COVID-19 Updates

Our top priority and concern is ensuring the health and wellbeing of our Hope Loves Company family - our staff, board, volunteers, supporters, and of course, our HLC families and campers.

In an effort to reduce the risk of spreading infection, the Hope Loves Company staff, board members, and volunteers will be working remotely until further notice. We will be monitoring the situation and following the advice of both the federal and local government, the CDC, and the WHO.

You can still reach our team at 609-730-1144 or by email - visit our staff page for contact information.

Hope Loves Company recognizes that it is so important, now more than ever, to offer support to children and families affected by ALS. Therefore, we've created programs and resources that can be accessed virtually in the hopes that we can offer you and your family opportunities for fun and relaxation, as well as a safe space to express yourself. You can learn more here.

HLC is happy to announce that registration is now open for Camp HLC 2020! The health, safety, and wellbeing of our HLC families, staff, and volunteers is our top priority and we are constantly monitoring the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19. Please note that Camp HLC NJ was originally scheduled to take place May 15-17, however, we have postponed this camp weekend to October 9-11, 2020. We will let all of our families know as soon as possible if any other Camp HLC weekends are postponed or rescheduled. If you've registered for a Camp HLC weekend and it has to be postponed, your registration will automatically transfer to the new date.

The 5th Annual Night of Hope, scheduled for March 21, 2020, has been postponed. Additionally, the processing and shipping of Hug of Hope care packages is currently suspended - we will begin to send them out again as soon as it is safe to do so. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. And while we can’t send a hug right now, we can make a call. Please call us if you would like to learn more or seek guidance about talking to your children about ALS, or if you simply need to chat.

In regards to Camp HLC, we will continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice of the government, CDC, and WHO, as well as work with each campground to plan accordingly. We will notify all of our families of any new information or updates.

Please know that we are always available to connect and offer support in any way we can. We’re grateful for your understanding during this time.

In gratitude,
Hope Loves Company

Dear Camp HLC Indiana families,

We hope that this message reaches where you are safe and beginning to enjoy the summer weather. We thank you for your enormous patience as we navigate these unprecedented times and do our best to provide our programs virtually throughout the U.S.

The information we needed arrived last night from Flat Rock River YMCA Camp, and sadly, they are not providing any camps this summer. It was a very difficult and proactive decision for them, as they are most concerned about everyone's wellness. Here is their heartfelt video from their Facebook page.

Like you, we just received this news and wanted to share it as soon as possible with understanding and compassion. This is the first Camp HLC that has been canceled, and we are addressing each one, in each state with consideration of the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the campgrounds, government, CDC, and WHO and we will proceed with the wellbeing of our families, volunteers, and staff at the forefront of our minds. It is our hope that Camp HLC Illinois will take place in September and it is open to you and your children, of course. All of our Camp HLCs are on our website,

In the meantime, we have many virtual programs available to you and your children which can be found at We are here to help however we can, so please don't hesitate to call us at our office. We know this is difficult news, but Camp HLC Indiana will resume under better circumstances and we will be back at FRR camp next year. Thank you and please stay safe!

With gratitude and love,

The HLC Team

To our wonderful Camp HLC Massachusetts families and volunteers,

As you may know, we recently learned and shared the news that Flat Rock River camp, which houses Camp HLC Indiana, cancelled their summer camps, cancelling Camp HLC IN. Unfortunately, the news we were waiting for from Camp Emerson in Massachusetts arrived yesterday and we've learned that they have also decided to cancel their summer camps in 2020, which sadly includes Camp HLC MA.

We know that this was a difficult decision for them and we know that the safety and wellbeing of their campers and families is their top priority. This is the second Camp HLC that has been cancelled due to COVID19 and we are addressing each one in each state with consideration of the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the campgrounds, government, CDC, and WHO and we will proceed with the wellbeing of our families, volunteers, and staff at the forefront of our minds. It is our hope that Camp HLC New Jersey will take place in October and it is open to our Massachusetts families, of course. All of our Camp HLCs are on our website,

We know that this is difficult news and we want you to know that we are here for you and your families. We have many virtual programs available at, and if there's any other way that we can be helpful to you and your families, please don't hesitate to reach out or call our office at 609-730-1144.

We've created a survey for our families which we hope will help us better serve our mission and our families in the wake of COVID19. When you have a moment, please complete this important survey and thank you:

We will see you all at Camp Emerson next year and are looking forward to an even bigger and better Camp HLC MA weekend when we come together in August 2021. Thank you all for your understanding.

With love and gratitude,
The HLC Team
