NJASC Award to HLC
On Wednesday, June 1st, HLC's Founder Jodi O'Donnell-Ames and Director of Communications Nancy Yantas attended the National Association of Student Councils Spring Awards Program at Great Adventure in New Jersey. The New Jersey Association of Student Councils (NJASC) is the nation's oldest student leadership organization. Since its inception in 1927 as the New Jersey Association of High School Councils, the NJASC has continually evolved and constantly been at the forefront of student leadership and student issues.
The NJASC is dedicated to helping middle and high school student councils to be more active and engaged in their schools and communities. Each summer the NJASC sponsors a Leadership Training Conference (LTC), a 4-day retreat where students learn critical leadership skills including communication and public speaking, problem-solving, respecting diversity, project planning, and managing conflict. Jodi O'Donnell-Ames, Founder of Hope Loves Company, attended LTC in 1983! She credits NJASC and its staff for her leadership skills.
The NJASC announced on June 1st at Great Adventure that its students throughout NJ have raised approximately $117,000 for Hope Loves Company!
Hope Loves Company would like to thank the more than 300 schools who participated in the year-long fundraising and who not only raised funds, but awareness for both ALS and Hope Loves Company.
