Where can families stay locally that are not attending camp?

We suggest that all families stay on camp.  We have hotel style accommodations and there are activities that can be done separate from your child’s experience at camp.  Please contact us at (845) 985-2291 for pricing and reservations.

What about the weather?

All camp activities occur rain or shine, unless there is a thunderstorm or heavy rain. If this is the case, we have ample indoor space and activities will continue.  All campers should bring a rain poncho and sunscreen!  This time of year it is usually warmer during the day and colder at night.

What is the fee to attend camp?

Camp is free for our ALS families. It is provided by Hope Loves Company, HARK and our sponsors.

The Frost Valley YMCA provides around the clock EMT coverage to take care of our camper’s needs and we have access to the Frost Valley YMCA Wellness Center for treatment.  HLC's Jodi O'Donnell-Ames is an EMT. The local hospital is about 25 miles away in Ellenville, NY. There is YMCA staff at the camp 24 hours a day. All cabins are equipped with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Emergency YMCA numbers are provided to HLC chaperones. Emergency phones are available at all phones and in the dining hall.

How will my child be supervised?

All campers are supervised by HLC chaperones. HLC does meals and activities together as a group. All of our cabins are together at the camp. There will be a minimum of two chaperones per cabin. Activities will have additional supervision by trained staff of the Frost Valley YMCA.

What are the activities like?

YMCA activities are led by YMCA staff. YMCA staff are friendly, fun and well qualified to lead group activities. HLC does all activities together, in age appropriate groups. See the activity page for more information.
